For the expedition, we will be taking 2 remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and a series of baited remote underwater video systems (BRUVS). As I am in charge of the BRUVS design and creation, the weeks leading up to the expedition will be very  busy in the lab!

Each BRUVS required about 40m of line. To measure this, we needed a lot of space – the university parking lot should do the trick!

Here I am working on the baited component of the system – the bait bags. This meant nearly drowning in a marine ecologist’s favorite all purpose tool – cable ties!
